The Yamaha Disklavier Series of playback/reproducing pianos are considered to be the top-of-the-line when it comes to modern-day player piano systems.  The typical Disklavier is a real acoustic piano outfitted with electronic sensors for recording and electromechanical solenoids for player piano-style playback.

Yamaha introduced the first Disklavier reproducing and playback systems over thirty years ago and has continually maintained their lead over all other player piano systems on the market through their superior design, impeccable quality control, dependability, and longevity.  The fact that they are manufactured and sold only in brand new Yamaha pianos has greatly helped to ensure their quality and reputation as the best on the market.

This piano, manufactured in Hamamatsu, Japan in 2011, is a Mark IV Series Disklavier Grand that we have upgraded with new audio boards, new hard drive, loaded with latest operating software, factory reset, recalibrated, and equipped to allow for easy connection to your network.  This enables the piano to stream piano performances from the internet and allows the unit to be controlled by an iPad or other smart device.

We thoroughly refinished and reconditioned this piano in our shop and all work was performed by our well trained and qualified piano technicians.  The case of the piano was totally refinished in a very attractive and durable textured ebony black finish which is ideal for stage and institutional settings.  The special finish minimalizes glare and visible dust, repeals fingerprints and scratches, and can be easily repaired if nicked or damaged.

We installed brand key bushings, voiced the hammers, adjusted the dampers, and regulated the action.  The piano has been inspected, detailed, tuned, and all brass and pedals have been cleaned and polished to like-new condition; it has been fully prepared and evaluated in our shop to be performance ready.  The action is medium touch, smooth and extremely responsive.  The bass register is deep, very rich, and powerful.  This piano looks great, it sounds and plays like a new C6, and will provide many years of service without any need of major repair or replacement of parts.

Every Disklavier playback/record system is specifically designed for the model of the Yamaha pianos that are equipped with the system.  They are not available as an ‘aftermarket’ retrofit for other makes of pianos.  Now in its seventh-generation, Yamaha has diligently provided upgrade solutions for older models throughout the years which is another reason that preowned Disklavier Pianos are known to have the best reputation for player piano systems.

History of the Model C6 (7’-0”) Grand

Introduced by Yamaha in 1994, the Yamaha Model C6 Grand (7’-0”) fits comfortably between the C5 (6’-7”) and C7 (7’-6”) in Yamaha’s C Series lineup of pianos.  The C Series is Yamaha’s premier line of grand pianos manufactured in Yamaha’s state-of-the-art factory in Hamamatsu, Japan.  This C6 Conservatory Series piano represents classic Yamaha quality in both tone and touch and is comparable to many of the other semi-concert grand pianos of this size (Steinway B, Mason & Hamlin BB, Schimmel K231, etc.) produced by other well respected piano manufacturers.

This model was designed to ensure a deep resonant tone that has both warmth and clarity. Yamaha is renowned for a tone that is crisp and clear with incredible sustain and a responsive, medium-light touch desired by professionals.  There is no denying the precision and smoothness of the action on a great C6 like this.  The action on this piano feels especially quick under the fingers allowing for fast, intricate music to be played with ease.

If you are looking for a top notch refined, balanced, Conservatory Series Yamaha Grand Piano for a fraction of the cost of new piano, especially one that is equipped with a factory installed upgraded Yamaha Disklavier system, this like-new condition beautifully reconditioned DC6 would an excellent choice.
